櫻花 Cherry Flowers (Yinghua)
Blossoming by the Pressure Relief Tower are groups of Prunus Campanulata (Pachongying), Taiwan Cherry (Shanyinghua), and Prunus yedoensis cv. Yedcensis (Jiyeying). If one visits the Water Park via the bikeway, one can see the "Japanese Flowering Cherry" (Ribenhejinying), a rare species in Taiwan. The Japanese Flowering Cherry is a hybrid of the Taiwan Cherry and the Prunus lannesiana (Dadaoying) from Japan's Kyushu. The color is grayish-white, and the petals are bigger than those of common cherry flowers.
After several failed attempts, the Water Park finally succeeded in making all the types of cherry flowers planted on its grounds blossom, creating views of ethereal beauty. The cherry flowers start to blossom in January, and finish in February. Since the flowering season is rather short – 10 days on average for each flower – please arrange your visit in season if you wish to enjoy the views at their best.
