Today's "Raw Water Pumping Station" was built in 1964, and retired due to city population growth and reduction in the quantity of natural raw water. The Taipei City Government built a new station to extract raw water from the Xindianxi to supply the Chanchu Mt. Purification Plant (today's Changxing Purification Plant) and Xindianxi Purification Plant (today's Gongguan Purification Plant). The water intake unit was placed at the foot of Guanyinshan, on the upstream section of the Xindianxi, because according to Burton's survey report the water here was deep and self-cleansed. To create new use for the historic relic and to promote the development of the Gongguan area, the Taipei Water Department renovated the station and turned it into a riverside restaurant.
